Thanksgiving '03

That's a wrap. Turkey Day is as dead as the turkey. Mom and I went to Steak and Ale. Good stuff but I'll miss the lack of leftovers (...and more pumpkin pie). Kind of odd, every year in this small window between late November and late December I pine for pumpkin pie and then I'm fine for the rest of the year.

Speaking of food, I would have liked to taste this bird. (No, not a sexual innuendo).

Fear, Loathing and Packing
So November is coming to an end and the trip looms. I already hate it. ...Well, no I don't. I just have to keep in mind that this is not a vacation but a trip. This means that the travel:enjoyment ratio is fairly high (travelling very far for little joy). As it stands right now, I don't expect to see that many sights either (so why did I spend so much for a camera??).

The five or six days proceeding the trip is the vacation!

Mom's already talking about the next trip to Germany!
Um, no. Just... no. She's welcome to go whereever, whenever, but count me out of that particular country for a long while.

On the gaming front, I picked up a couple of PS2 games.
Manhunt - Dark, quiet, gorey. Too soon to tell if it's good.
Second, a blast from the past. Half-Life (I already played the PC version, but for 15 bucks, why not...)

All right, test number 2:

Test 1

Test 2

Test 3

Test 4

Ah ha! The extra lines were from the formatting within the table tag.

Changed the image src to be relative instead of absolute.

And finally to make them links.

Yep, this just happened to me the other night. Damn you Mr. Internet! (shakes fist at the sky)

Okay, gearing up for the test (hope tables work):

Test 4

Okay. So far, so good (but a lot of whitespace, hm...).

IBM To Design Technology For XBox 2 CPU
If this isn't the breaking of the First Seal of the Tech Apocalypse, I don't know what could be.

November!? How'd that happen!?

Oh, I see, the ceaseless "forward" progression of time. (Or not, hm). Anyway, I've blown thrown a couple of games (see below) and stalled as of late. This is partially due to the new gear I bought through October. (Imagine me with Mad Cow Disease and a credit card in each hand. Spend, dammit, spend, pht, pht).

The tangerine iBook sold through Half.com (a surprisingly good experience), hence I got the 12" Aluminum Powerbook and several accessories.

I'm gearing up (literally) for the trip to Germany in December so I decided to buy the Canon Digital Rebel... and several accessories. My plan is to post the images here as often as possible in a loose trip diary. Hope it won't be too boring. (This is Uncle Ted in front of the house. This is Uncle Ted at the back of the house. And this is Uncle Ted at the side of the house. This is Uncle Ted, back again at the front of the house, but you can see the side of the house.)

Games completed:

  • Half Life: Blue Shift - verdict: good but short

  • Half Life: Opposing Force - verdict: great but difficult

  • Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 - verdict: decent but low, 2D pixels and thousands of colors is so year 2000 -- oh, wait -- this game is from 2000...
